"Religion
that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to
look after orphans and widows in their distress
and to keep oneself
from being polluted by the world."
—James 1:27— |

AIDS is spreading rampantly throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa, and children are left as orphans as a result. In Kenya alone there are as many as 1.2 million children who have been orphaned because of the disease. Many of these children have no one to care for them, and they end up in the streets scavenging for food and shelter. God called Alan and Pam to go to Kenya, East Africa not only to meet the physical and emotional needs of some of these children, but also to share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ and to equip them to be productive citizens of Kenya and the Kingdom of God. |
 |
Kenya is a strategic location because it affords relative stability in a part of the world that is fraught with disease, war, famine, and poverty. Kenya is not without its challenges, however. In 2008, following a contentious presidential election, Kenya experienced a great deal of civil unrest and violence of its own. Many Kenyan people were displaced from their homes and became refugees themselves. The GFE Children’s Home remained a safe haven for the children during these tumultuous times, and the home is fast becoming a beloved member of the community in which it stands. |
|
God has been doing amazing things in the lives of the children of the GFE home. The kids are salt and light in their community. They are thriving physically, emotionally and spiritually. There are many great accomplishments in their lives so far, yet there remain so many challenges to see these children become strong leaders of their nation and within the Kingdom of God. Please join Alan and Pam in prayer and in financially supporting God’s work in Kenya. Alan shares the following sentiment with the kids, ministry partners in Kenya, and the U.S. supporters of the work…these are the words of the Apostle Paul to the followers of Christ in Philippi… |
|
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,
always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you
will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus."
